Kurs für zeitgenössisches, performatives & transdisziplinäres Theater

Das heutige Theater ist nicht auf dramatische Interpretation begrenzt. Nur durch den offenen Dialog mit der Wirklichkeit können wir langfristig Aktualität im Theater bewahren. Im Physical Theatre geht es um die Suche nach Körperausdruck im Wandel der Zeit. Ideen aus Performance- und Bildender Kunst, Musik und Tanz prägen das Profil des Kurses ebenso wie Disziplinen, die nicht in die klassische Kategorie von Theater gehören.
Länder- und stilübergreifende Techniken, Prinzipien und Ausdrucksformen thematisieren wir im Kurs ebenso wie aktuelle Tendenzen. Da der Körper stets Ausgangspunkt der Arbeit ist, bildet ein kontinuierliches physisches Training den Kern des Kurses.
Folgende Techniken und Formen haben Einfluss auf die Arbeit im Kurs:
• Bewegungs- und Tanzimprovisation, sowie Zeitgenössischer Tanz
• Komposition, Choreographie, Dramaturgie in Bewegung
• Ensemble training
• Butoh, Noh-Theater
• Contact Improvisation, Akrobatik, Yoga
• Dramatische improvisation
• Physische Theaterübungen inspiriert von Grotowski, Barba, Artaud
• Emotionstraining und Stimme
• Performance art
Über ein Training, das auch Kondition und Fitness beinhaltet, treten die Teilnehmenden in intensiven Kontakt zu ihrem Körper. Durch Spiele und Kommunikationsübungen lernen sie ihren Körper als Instrument ihres künstlerischen Ausdrucks zu nutzen. Dabei entwickeln sie ein Gespür für die dem Körper innewohnende Kraft und Kreativität und erfahren ihn als Basis des kreativen Schaffens. In diesem Kurs sehen wir den Körper als Mittel sowie auch als Ziel.
Pro Semester werden wir 6 Monate mit einer geschlossenen Gruppe arbeiten. Anschließend können die Teilnehmenden die erlernten Fähigkeiten und Werkzeuge in eigenen Projekten anwenden und erhalten die Möglichkeit an einem aufbauenden Performance Projekt teilzunehmen.

Der Kurs ist offen und geeignet für alle Interessierten – mit und ohne Vorkenntnisse. Er erfordert eine regelmäßige Teilnahme und die Bereitschaft zum intensiven physischen Arbeiten.

Physical Theatre Lab
The Animal and the Machine

In this 2-month artistic Lab, and within the frame of the regular Physical Theatre course, we will focus on two aspects of physicality we define as the Animal and the Machine. Animal for what we recognise in ourselves as instinctive, wild, sensory, outcasted; and the Machine for what we depict as trained/controlled, systematic, precise, emotionless, and repetitive in our lives.
The romantic distinction between the unicity of the animal (idyllic nature) versus the inhumane multiplicity of the machine (dystopic future) is the rich imaginary landscape that will serve the playground for the Animal / Machine Lab. The dichotomy Animal / Machine is the thread guiding an artistic and physical practice towards a different understanding of our body as well as others’ bodies. In this program we will make physical experiences from both sides, the animalistic and the machinic, to eventually come to the conclusion that the unbridgeable distance between both poles might be just a fictional construction.
A specific physical training and exercises provide tools for finding instinctive movement and allowing more strength, definition and awareness in performance. At the same time, we will implement choreographic scores and procedures to organise the materials emerging from the practice into a performative frame. As a conclusion, we propose an open showing at the end of the Lab.
